The National Football League is coming to Charlotte, NC to present the Women’s Officiating Clinic hosted by the Women’s Football Foundation (WFF). As part of the NFL’s Women Officiating Now initiative (W.O.N.), the NFL is providing this clinic for female student athletes, players and fans in the Charlotte area. NMOA Officiating Clinic – 7/27/14

As part of 2014 NASO convention and New Mexico Officiate Day, the NMOA will host the NFL Football Officiating Academy clinic for officials with 0 -2 yrs. experience. If you are 17 – 30 and highly interested in learning what it takes to get started in officiating. The this clinic is for you. This clinic will teach basic football officiating philosophies and mechanics and will incorporate class room and field work. Register today!

The recent labor dispute between the NFL Referees Association and NFL clubs has been resolved in time for the regular crews to return for the fourth weekend of play. Two retired NFL players – former Bills and Vikings safety STEVE FREEMAN (1975-1987) and ex-Falcons, Rams and Bears tackle PHIL MC KINNELY (1976-1982) – are among the 121 officials who will be working under the new eight-year contract.

Freeman is a Texas native who attended Mississippi State. He played on same defensive unit at Bills with JIM HASLETT, FRED SMERLAS, and DARRYL TALLEY. McKinnely was born in California and played his collegiate ball at UCLA. During his five years with the Falcons, his line mates included Pro Bowlers JEFF VAN NOTE and MIKE KENN.
